Application & Credentialing

At LocumsPro, we strive to prioritize your time so you can focus on what matters most…practicing medicine.  We require a very short application process which requests only the most important information to get the credentialing and primary sourcing process started.

Once we receive your initial application, our staff will pre-populate any credentialing application with information we already have on file.  You will receive a copy of these documents for you to review for accuracy along with instructions on how to complete and submit them. Our dedicated staff will update you regularly throughout the entire credentialing and licensing process to ensure timely processing of all documents and to avoid delays in your assignment.

Licensing

LocumsPro helps physicians get the necessary licensing for their assignments.  We act as a link between the physicians, state boards, and other parties involved in the process. From documentation to verification, we handle the entire licensing process.

State Licenses

Applying for a Medical License

Applying for a state license can be a daunting process, given that states vary in their licensing requirements. We will ease the process by thoroughly explaining to you what documentation is required and by continuously keeping you aware of timelines.

Medical Board Time-frames

State licensing can take anywhere from 8-10 weeks.  However, in some states the process can take up to 6 months.  The following states have relatively more complicated licensing requirements and historically take longer: Arkansas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Texas

Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)
Under the IMLC  agreement, physicians who meet eligibility requirements can practice in the compact territory – which consists of 24 states, 1 territory, and its corresponding Medical and Osteopathic Boards.  The application process uses information previously submitted by physicians in their state of principal license (SPL).  The SPL conducts a new background check and verifies the physician’s information. Once qualified, the physician can practice in any number of states within the compact territory.  The majority of physicians meet eligibility criteria for licensure through the IMLC.

Our experienced licensing team will help determine your eligibility and assist you with your IMLC application.

DEA
Most locum tenens will require an active DEA license.  While it is not required, we highly recommend that physicians who regularly do locums obtain a secondary DEA license to avoid activation delays. At LocumsPro, we will help you re-activate or transfer a DEA license.  Keep in mind that DEA registration can take 7-10 days.

CAQH Integration

CAQH Pro View is a convenient resource that houses physicians’ professional and practice information in one safe and secure location. This system is used by medical staff offices nationwide. At CardioLocums, we are very familiar with the CAQH system, allowing us to more efficiently access our providers’ credentialing information at any time. We will gladly assist in enrolling new providers into this highly convenient program.
